Bible School June 21 thru 25

This week has been Bible School at Purpose Baptist Church in Opelika. This is a great church and the people are super nice. The theme is Saddle Up Ranch. Alexis and Alec are having a blast. Monday, the first night, Alec was not sure about staying, but once he started on the crafts he was fine, so mom and dad snuck out. But were heard it when we went back to pick them up. They have this one room where they pretend they are camping under the stars, so it's lights out. Alec said he would never go back to bible school because they turned the lights out. We would ask Alec if he had fun and he would say "NO" I am never going back there again! So Tuesday rolls around and I say "Alec, are you ready for bible school?" He would still say No, I am never going back there because they turn off the lights. We spoke with his teacher and she said he could skip that activity and they would have him do something else. So, Alec decided to stay again, but I had to sneak away. When I picked him up Tuesday night...I asked him if he went into the dark and he said nope, but I will never go back to bible school. This of course is his saying now because we all laughed at it. Wednesday night back to Bible School, Alec still didn't want to stay without me, but I talked him into it and the crafts didn't hurt either. Alexis is enjoying every night and can't wait to go back each night. When I pick Alexis and Alec up they are in their singing and dancing their hearts out! Thursday night...here we come. Bill is in Dallas this week, so he only got to go with me on Monday night. He will be back in town Friday night for the big finale. Also, there is a chance that Alexis and Alec will be on a commercial for the church on the Nickelodeon and ABC Family stations. We are very excited! They were filming on Tuesday night, so we will see.

Stay tuned for the rest of the week and more pics. The pictures below are from Monday night, June 21.

Father's Day Weekend, June 18-20, 2010

The weekend of June 19-20 was a busy weekend. First it was Bill's 30th High School Reunion. He attended a party Friday night, June 18. On Saturday, it was the family part of the reunion, so we went to Monkey Park in Opelika and had a great time. Alexis and Alec rode the train and played on the playground. Alexis' friend, Leighanna was there too. Leighanna's mom, Melissa Howell, was in Bill's class.

Saturday night was time for Bill and me to get our groove on. It was couple's night for the reunion. We went to Greystone in Auburn and had a great time! Bill really enjoyed seeing all of his classmates and I enjoyed meeting them. The flower arrangements were gorgeous. The food was shrimp, vegetables with ranch dip, salsa and chips, chicken fingers, twice baked potatoes, cheesecake, and regular cake. Everyone had a great time!

Sunday was Father's Day. I think we have the greatest Dad in the world to celebrate on this day. Bill is a wonderful father, husband and friend. His children adore him and I do too. Our children have someone they can truly look up to and honor and be proud to call him dad. Of course, Alexis and Alec couldn't understand why this was "dad's" day. They thought it should be "kids" day. So they have declared their own Kids Day. First thing we opened presents at home then we went to one of Bill's favorite places for lunch, Shogun's Japanese and Sushi Bar. We then went to Mimi and Poppy's to celebrate another wonderful Father, Bill's dad...Mr. P. Bill is definitely his father's son. I can see so much of Mr. P in Bill. Mr. P is a wonderful man who I am honored to call my father in law. Ma Pat and Mr. P, you both did a wonderful job in raising Bill. Thank you for making me feel a part of your family. To finish off this perfect Father's day, Bill and his dad played golf at Indian Pines. We all had a perfect day!

Family Fun Day 2010

Yesterday, June 16, we attended the annual "Family Fun Day" that Auburn University puts on for its employees. The event is hosted at the President's home. We had a lot of fun, but it was very hot! We stood in line to have Alexis and Alec's face painted. This lady did a great job as you can see from the pics below. Of course, we had to find Aubie...what is an Auburn event without Aubie. The kids played games, went on the slide and jumped in the inflatable bouncey. We enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs, and ice-cream. When I said it was time to go, I didn't hear a complaint from Alexis or Alec because it was so hot. It was a great day for all. Bill wasn't able to join us because he was on a business trip to Texas. We missed him a lot!

Splash Park

We enjoyed some swim time at Splash Park. This place is awesome! The kids love it. It is located at the Opelika Aquatics Center and Sportsplex.

Girls Beach Trip 2010

I went to Desin with my girlfriends (Brook, Michele, Laurel and Emily) on June 10 thru June 13. We had such a blast! We went to the "Electric Cowboy" and the Lucky Snapper. We stayed by the pool and beach everyday. While at the beach we had quite a bit of Marine life. We saw a shark, which the Marine Police kept circling around to make the shark go back into the deep. We also saw several schools of over 20 stingrays. Enjoy the photos...

Summer Swing

Last night we went to Monkey Park for the Summer Swing. Every Tuesday the Opelika Parks and Recreation Dept hosts a free outdoor concert in Opelika during the Summer. This is a lot of family fun. We planned to go this night because our favorite band was playing Route 66.

There where a lot of people attending which makes it even more fun.

Alec of course could not stay still so he convinced his dad to go play with him. I can only imagine what he is telling his dad at this moment. I'm sure it is something like "You better catch me!"

Route 66 called all moms to the stage...well I guess that means me too! Alec wanted to go dance with me, but I couldn't get Alexis too. I am in the black shirt on stage...I had so much fun!

They also gave out guitars to all the kids. Future rock n rollers.

Memorial Day Weekend

What a better way to spend the Memorial holiday than a trip to New Orleans to visit family. We decided to go last minute, so we packed our bags and headed down on Friday, May 28th and came home on Monday, May 31. Bless my husband's heart...he was just getting in from Birmingham, Al on business and then he had to turn around and drive all the way to New Orleans. The whole weekend it rained and rained some more, but we still had a great time! We visited the Insect Aquarium which is always fun. We visited Cafe Du Monde for their famous benets and enjoyed some jazz. Thanks Aunt Nancy and Uncle Glynn for the wonderful time!

We rode a Ferry to downtown to enjoy Cafe Du Monde and the jazz..

Here are pictures from the Insect Aquarium. They have the cutest little movie that we always have to see multiple times. The kids enjoyed looking at all the bugs. Pierce was a little under the weather, so he didn't get to come with us.

One afternoon we went to a Seafood place called Perino's. We thought we better eat seafood before the BP Oil Spill messes everything up. The kids had their chicken fingers and shrimp. I had the fried oysters and Bill ate the catfish. Glynn and Nancy shared lb of crawfish, but of course we munched on them too.
